Each learner in the
class needs a learner set, and schoolchildren also need a workbook.
Workbooks are not used when Audiblox is presented to preschool
children.
The learner sets are
reusable, which implies that an
Audiblox tutor may use the same learner sets to conduct all her
classes, and teachers can use the same learner sets year after year.
A Persepto, a set of word cards, 10 learner
sets, and 10 workbooks, as well as the book The Right to Read and
the Audiblox training manual, are included in the training fee.
More learner sets and workbooks can be ordered, if required.
When private tutors
wish to present Audiblox as a service:
When conducting
Audiblox classes as a service, each group must receive three lessons
per week, of one hour each. Up to 15 schoolchildren may be tutored
simultaneously.
The classes are presented
on three levels. New enrolments, of whatever age they may be — with the
exception of preschool children — will start in the same class in Level 1.
They can be incorporated into the Level 1 class at any time. There is no
need to resort to measures like a waiting list, or starting a new class to
accommodate new learners.
Once a learner has
attained the required level of achievement, he is promoted to Level 2. As
soon as he has made sufficient progress on Level 2, he is promoted to
Level 3.
The preschool program
also operates on three levels. Three classes per week of 20-30 minutes
each must be presented. Up to 10 preschool children may be tutored
simultaneously.
When schoolteachers
wish to implement Audiblox in their classrooms:
In a formal school
setting the whole class is usually tutored simultaneously. The School
Program is followed, which requires 30 minutes, four or (preferably) five
times per week. Less time is required for preschool children.
Training Schedule
In order to be certified
as an Audiblox tutor, which either entails offering Audiblox
group classes as a service or to present Audiblox in a school
setting to groups of pupils, one needs to attend a 6-day training course.
The objectives of the
training course are (1.) to give an individual a thorough knowledge and
understanding of the theory that underlies the Audiblox program and
(2.) mastery of the group application of the Audiblox program.
The competence level of
course attendants is evaluated on an ongoing basis. It is therefore
important to set aside some time during the evenings for practice.
On
completion of the course, provided that the objectives were met, course
attendants are awarded a certificate. Below ― from left to right ― are
